Smash and grab
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
In version of history "B", (PROSE: Dalek Survival Guide) PC Tom Campbell was witness to a smash and grab, being struck by the perpetrators as they escaped. He made his way to what appeared to be a police box but was actually Dr. Who's TARDIS. After being embroiled in the 2150 Dalek invasion of Earth, he was returned home earlier than he left, allowing him to catch the perpetrators before they could escape. (TV: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- In an interview in DWM 490, Steven Moffat proposed that Dr. Who recklessly altering Time to change the outcome of the smash and grab at the end of Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. caused him to accidentally restart his universe, rewriting himself into a Time Lord and losing his family name.
- In any case, Tom's foiling of the smash and grab marks a peculiar instance of time travel in Doctor Who which is at odds with most accounts in mainstream continuity which establish that generally a time traveller cannot go back and change their own personal history. (TV: Father's Day, The Parting of the Ways, The End of Time, The Time of the Doctor) It is of note that the earlier version of Tom who would have entered TARDIS is completely absent from this new version of the event, his place being taken by the present Tom.
