Owen, AFAIK, shows no other indications of bisexuality during his time on the show, so this one-off scene from the first episode was probably when the writers and actor were still getting to know the character and all the details weren't made out yet (like the fate of [[Ianto Jones]] post-''[[Cyberwoman]]''). :The first time I watched that scene, the only assumption I made was that Owen was hailing a taxi to make good his escape from the randy boyfriend. No other interpretation occurred to me until now. I suppose, having reconsidered the implications, hailing a taxi is far more ambiguous than his simply making a run for it...
