Betraying his boss, [[Crane (Rise of the Cybermen)|Mr Crane]] severely damaged the life-support systems. Inadvertently, Lumic made his Cybermen aware of the fact he was in pain, and the latter judged him as unfit to carry on living in human form, thus promptly had him [[upgrade|converted]] into the [[Cyber-Controller]].
