I think we should split this between [[Human]] and [[Proto-human]]/New human (''we'd only put a <nowiki>{{You may}}</nowiki> there, since [[New human (New Earth)|another species]] bears that name'')/[[Human-ish]]. In [[TV]]: ''[[The End of the World (TV story)|The End of the World]]'', [[Lady Cassandra]] says that humans have "mingled" with other species, and now call themselves "new humans," "proto-humans," or even "human-ish." They must be biologically different, at least slightly, though still similar in appearance. This would mean that every "human" post-[[Earth]] is actually a proto-human. This includes those from [[TV]]: ''[[New Earth (TV story)|New Earth]]'', ''[[Utopia (TV story)|Utopia]]'', ''[[The Beast Below (TV story)|The Beast Below]]'', even ''[[The Ark in Space (TV story)|The Ark in Space]]''! Actually, scratch that: the humans in TAIS were hibernating for thousands of years directly after the destruction, and didn't inter-marry (they were "pure" — all the same. What are your thoughts on the split?<br />--[[user:SmallerOnTheOutside|SOTO]] [[User talk:SmallerOnTheOutside|☎]] 17:04, March 24, 2013 (UTC) | I think we should split this between [[Human]] and [[Proto-human]]/New human (''we'd only put a <nowiki>{{You may}}</nowiki> there, since [[New human (New Earth)|another species]] bears that name'')/[[Human-ish]]. : As Rose says, "They evolved, Cassandra. As they should." If we were talking real world speciation, as long as they can interbreed, they'd still be the same species. --[[User:ComicBookGoddess|ComicBookGoddess]] [[User talk:ComicBookGoddess|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 07:01, April 17, 2013 (UTC) | : As Rose says, "They evolved, Cassandra. == Earth descent ==
The first parts of the article really push the idea that ‘human’ means ‘Earthling’ or ‘of Earth descent’, but as the last section (and some of the material it cites) show that people from other worlds can also be human. And in at least some cases, it would seem to be a pretty direct description rather than a figure of speech (most recently, humans from Mondas). It seems like cats, mice and snakes, humans came about naturally on more than one planet.
