Hmm... I seemed to remember that Azmael was ultimately described as the Doctor's mentor at the Academy, and many reference sources including this very wiki back up my memories, but I just control F-ed the transcript and no you're right they don't even start the word "academy" anywhere in the story. He's just referred to as the Doctor's "mentor". Weird, like a Mandela Effect.
