He hoped that her memories would come back soon. Benny asked the Doctor about him and this Summerfield person, and how they came to this planet and stayed because they thought there was a mystery to solve. He could only be seen by Benny as he was her anchor. He explained to Benny how her life as Annis was remembered. (AUDIO: The Angel of History)

The Doctor moaned when Benny took him to a car boot sale, but he bought a new hat stand for the TARDIS. He indulged Benny investigating the Lampian artefact she had bought. He eventually found a convenient book about the in the Asimar Archive. He was worried about all the coincidences and decided to go back in time to check the veracity of the history of the Lampian. He saw history being rewritten in front of his face. He eventually found it difficult to travel to some locations. The Doctor and Benny landed on Civitas-G which was a cutting edge simulation, which he didn't trust. He heard Zita's voice over the hullabaloo of the festival and went to find her. After learning more about the revisions he was caught by the data police and placed in the world's equivalent of the recycle bin. Benny and the Doctor pretended to be a married couple when they stayed at Flor's bed and breakfast on Neirut. He decided to do the ironing which Flor found unusual. He found a dead body with Flor, but was arrested by Rylan Winsell. He realised that Daphne Gold had seen similar murders. He offered his help to solve the murders. He searched Flor's belongings thinking she might be involved. He found a catacomb beneath the bed and breakfast walled with skulls. He stored the ancient queen in Flor's data storage eye. After arriving aboard the Ark of Whispers, the Doctor fell down a hole upon exiting the TARDIS, injuring his ankle. Crawling along in the dark, he began communicating with a computer interface which was chirping back. Realising it was copying him and Benny, the Doctor began to use it to indirectly communicate with Benny, who was still at the top of the ship. Finding his way out of the ventilation shaft, he continued exploring the ship whilst teaching the interface. He realised the interface was becoming intelligent and withholding information. Together he and Benny deduced the ship was designed to be isolated and kept in silence, however he realised the ship was on a collision course with a populated planet. After Benny used the interface to foil his attempt to blow up the ship to force him to find a better way, he confessed his recent misery. Realising they needed to persuade the interface not to hit the planet, he had Benny retrieve the TARDIS tuner to force it to listen to the people on the planet. His plan worked and he and Benny parted ways with the interface, though they were saddened when it revealed that it had to delete its newly acquired knowledge to complete its mission.
