:Well, this is a weird one. I'm not its target demographic, but there isn't a rule I know of that it breaks. Valid, but it's just not for me. Not a lot of people make that distinction, and it sounds like it was especially common to equate "canon" with "thing I like" before the validity system. Good thing that's changed!
