Well, presumably they know the explosion is meant to occur on 26/6/2010. So the Box may be programmed to imprison him until then, and afterwards it'll open and a kindly Sontaran version of Mrs. Doubtfire will pat him on the back and hand him a mug of cocoa for being such a good sport.
