Starship Scotland

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

On St Andrew's Day, 30 November 2814, Starship Scotland launched and declared independence from Starship UK (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary [+]Loading...["Time Traveller's Diary (novel)"]) as the nations of Earth were evacuating the planet due to solar flares. Scotland was still separate from Starship UK in the 33rd century. When Mandy Tanner noted that Amy Pond was Scottish, Amy replied that Scotland must "be here somewhere". Mandy replied Scotland didn't want to be part of Starship UK so instead, they built their own ship with its own engine. Amy approved of this and remarked that "nothing changes". Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The script for The Beast Below does not directly name Scotland's starship, which itself is a reference to the real-world issue of Scottish independence from the United Kingdom; it was ultimately named in Time Traveller's Diary. In the Phoenix Court series, specifically Fancy Man, established that Scotland had become independent by the early 21st century. However, the Phoenix Court series is not currently covered due to it not featuring any DWU concepts when the series was first published.
