History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In 1865, T'ai Shan was one of the sites that the resurrected Qin Shi Huang, possessed by a Mandragora Helix, wished to conquer in order to complete his plan. When his general Zhao mentioned the mountain, Qin recalled the mountain with vengeance, insisting that "when the time comes, the gods there will not reject me this time". (PROSE: The Eleventh Tiger)

In 1872, Magnus Greel's 51st century time cabinet landed on T'ai Shan in the Temple. It was seized by Emperor Tongzhi's armies.

By the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1937, the Tong of the Black Scorpion had secrely constructed the world's first nuclear reactor inside the mountain, as part of a plan to capture and punish Greel. Sung-Chi Li provoked an internal battle within the Tong on the mountain and damaged the reactor, almost making it go critical. It threatened to blow up the entire province before the Fourth Doctor stabilised it. Afterwards, he and Romana buried the reactor inside the mountain beneath tonnes of concrete.
