Talk:Chronolock guy
Cyberman[[edit source]]
They say that he's a Cyberman in the episode, right? OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 21:39, November 29, 2015 (UTC)
- Just watched it. No such mention. --DCLM ☎ 23:05, November 29, 2015 (UTC)
- Unless the "do Cybermen feel death?" speech was referencing his species. --DCLM ☎ 23:08, November 29, 2015 (UTC)
- It's way too speculative to assume she was referring to him being a Cyberman rather than simply the fact that there were some Cybermen in the commune. Hence my removal of it. RogerAckroydLives ☎ 04:15, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
- Nah, it's pretty clear. The Doctor's like "Stop is death bad bad" and then she says "Do Cybermen feel death?" Pretty clearly saying that he's a Cyberman. Info should be readded. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 22:03, December 1, 2015 (UTC)

- DOCTOR: At least give him a merciful death.
- ASHILDR: Do you think a Cyberman fears a merciful death?
- That doesn't imply he is a Cyberman.--Skittles the hog - talk 23:03, December 1, 2015 (UTC)
- It doesn't make sense for her to be talking about some random Cyberman unrelated to the man in question. The context is this specific man and Me is refuting the Doctor's point by saying he's a Cyberman. Mewiet ☎ 23:25, December 1, 2015 (UTC)
- I agree with Mewiet. To me, in that context, she's referring to the man as if he were a Cyberman. It'd be very random to suddenly bring the species up during the moments before someone's untimely demise. TheFartyDoctor Talk 23:49, December 1, 2015 (UTC)
- The point Ashildr is making is that the punishment has to be severe else it wouldn't be a deterrent to the more dispassionate among them. She gives a Cyberman as an extreme example of this.--Skittles the hog - talk 00:15, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
- I personally interpreted it the way Skittles the hog did. Doesn't he act too emotionally to be a Cyberman? Quest?on ☎ 03:08, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
- I never thought there'd be any other way to interpret it, other than he's a Cyberman. It seems quite clear to me. The Doctor begs her to give him a merciful death, something he normally wouldn't care about for a Cyberman. This whole episode, he's been saying that these are dangerous species that are masquerading as humans here. Here's what he says when he gets to see that a man being tended is a Cyberman:
- Ashildr: Don't worry, we're perfectly safe.
- Doctor: Yes, a phrase I find is usually followed by a lot of screaming and running and bleeding.
- Ashildr tells him he's a Cyberman; "do you still feel the same way?", essentially.
- It's not a philosophical question. It's not an example. These people have been shown to be various species, including Cybermen, so it's not as if she's just making a comparison to get across that this person's a criminal. I think the script is being pretty direct about this guy being a Cyberman. I was surprised not to see that info on the page.

Old post I know but I have to agree with the people saying this guy is NOT a Cybermen. He explicitly displays both love and fear, and OK he may not be fully converted or whatever but then why would Me even bring up his species anyway? If he's not fully converted it's basically irrelevant that he's a Cyberman since his personality will still be the same. Me was clearly using Cybermen as an example and I don't see any other plausible reading of the line. She's saying a merciful death would not be a deterrent to a Cyberman, so she must therefore make an example of everyone who does break the rules, whatever their species. She's not "making a comparison" either, she's not metaphorically comparing him to a Cybermen, she's simply saying that there are ALSO Cybermen on this street, and they don't fear a merciful death. It's clear from the way the line is delivered that's what she means. And why bring up the scene where we see the Ood tending the Cyberman? That's a completely different scene! Nothing to do with this. She's not asking him if he "feels the same way" about anything. NightmareofEden ☎ 11:25, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, nowhere did the episode try to suggest this man in particular was a Cyberman. The Doctor asked for Ashildr to give him a merciful death but she refused as it would mean she would have to give all the other residents of Trap Street a merciful death and this wouldn't deter some of the more dangerous inhabitants (like the Cybermen) from breaking the peace.
