Talk:Eric Stahlmann

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Don't see why this page should be deleted? It has just as much right on the wiki such as the Inferno pages for Benton, Brigade Leader, Liz Shaw...? --The Brig 10:29, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Eric Stahlmann?[[edit source]]

According to the edit history of Eric Stahlman Greg Sutton introduces him and uses his first name. Unless he's also introduced and given a first name in the parallel universe he should remain as just Stahlmann. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:44, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

Should he though? It's a production error that his nametag has two "n"s. "Stahlmann" doesn't appear in the novelisation, nor on the credits. Production intent was clearly that the name be "Stahlman", and it doesn't make a lot of sense for us to be so pedantic about the name that we totally miss the obvious point of the story: this is meant to be the same guy as "Stahlman", only in a parallel world.
The name of the article should probably be "Stahlman (Inferno Earth)", with a BTS note to acknowledge the cock-up with the prop. Unless anyone has any objections before the end of 2013, this article will likely be moved soon in the new year.

There seem to have been no objections, so can this page be moved now? Shambala108 02:55, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

What’s in a name?[[edit source]]

Since the page says

> Stahlman's name is spelled STAHLMANN on his hazard suit's nameplate. However, in the credits for episode five, as well as in the novelisation, it is written as "Director Stahlman". In The Face of the Enemy and I, Alastair the nameplate version of his name is confirmed as the correct spelling for the Inferno universe.

shouldn’t this name be changed? It seems looking at past discussions that the main argument against this was the Doctor’s insistence that they were all the SAME people, and the Inferno Earth was effectively nigh-identical to our own, so how could a name be spelt differently?, but surely the entire point of episode 7 of the story was that the Doctor was WRONG in this insistence, which he realises when Greg survives the car accident that killed his parallel self. In any case, either the name should be changed, or that trivia point should, since they outright contradict each other with regard to the "proper" number of Ns in his name. At the ABSOLUTE VERY LEAST we should do the "according to one account" thing rather use language as definite as "confirmed" but then just flat-out contradict said supposed "confirmation" in the very page name! NightmareofEden 19:11, October 3, 2020 (UTC)

also, shouldn’t we have his full name here, since it is known. NightmareofEden 00:24, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
