Talk:Françoise Lavel

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

This page should probably be "Françoise Lavel" instead[[edit source]]

Can we change the name of this page to include Lavel's first name? I know it's never mentioned in the Battlefield serial, but it is mentioned in the novelization, which is still considered canon. As well, it's obviously been put into her information on the page itself, so it makes little sense for her page title to not include it. Pbandfluff 20:16, November 15, 2014 (UTC)

I've removed the speedy rename tag because, per Thread:167022, this kind of thing requires discussion. If someone feels like adding a standard {{rename}} tag, not a {{Speedy rename}} tag, then discussion can proceed. Shambala108 04:34, December 31, 2014 (UTC)
Ok given that it's been six years since I made the initial suggestion, and three years since someone added a {{rename}} tag, I suppose I'll open up the discussion. Her name is given as Francoise Lavel in the novelization. Novelizations count as canon. Her given name is not stated in the TV episode, therefore the name given in the novelization is not contradicting canon, but is a canon expansion. Based on those facts, does anyone object to a name change? Pbandfluff 04:33, November 23, 2020 (UTC)
Isn't it pretty explicitly laid out in T:CHAR NAMES that names from novelizations generally aren't used in article titles so as not to confuse people looking for the article who haven't read the novelization? I won't pretend that I wouldn't love to see that policy overturned, but I believe that is still the current policy. Schreibenheimer 23:00, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Indeed. T:BOUND applies. Scrooge MacDuck 00:57, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
