Talk:GoldenEye 007

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

I still don't think this should be here[[edit source]]

I really don't believe we should be covering elements that are only mentioned in foreign language dubs and translations. I know this has been discussed somewhere before, but this is what I think. WaltK 17:46, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

You are welcome to that opinion, but the question is not so much that it has been discussed, as that it "is" being discussed — the thread was ongoing when the Forums went out of commission.
Restating the case for the other side in brief to — I dunno — restore cosmic balance: whether we consider such information valid is another matter, but I really, really think we should cover it to some degree. BTS trivialities is another matter, but substantial in-universe material exclusive to foreign language versions is a topic that is, common-sensically, of interest to Who fans of any nationality. And since there is no limit to the Wiki's page-count, we have always, and should always, err on the side of containing the maximum amount of information we sanely can.
To put it another way: if something about official DWU media can be reliably sourced, and it is of interest to nonzero percentage of our readership, whether another percentage finds it uninteresting should be immaterial. They can just… not visit those pages, just as vast amounts of people have no interest in the finer points of TV Comic lore, or, for that matter, most of the other off-handedly-mentioned items in Category:Video games from the real world. I, for one, am much more interested in the novelty of GoldenEye's dub-exclusive mention than I am in its square old English-language Call of Duty equivalent. Both, in the grand scheme of things, are low-importance page, but the GoldenEye 007 one is if anything more likely to be of interest to an English-speaking Wiki-reader, teaching them something they might otherwise never have known.
