Talk:Ian Levine (in-universe)
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Rename[[edit source]]
I agree with a rename. I only used this page name because there was a redlink. Jack โ 18:00, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure that rename tag is correct; as I understand it, the "(in-universe)" dab is used for anything named after something from the real world which we have a page on. If this is indeed named after Ian Levine, and not a coincidence, then the dab is, I believe, correct. Aquanafrahudy ๐ข ๐๏ธ 22:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- See the following passage in T:DAB IU:
- The "(in-universe)" disambiguation term should be used to dab any in-universe thing named after an out-of-universe thing

- See the following passage in T:DAB IU:
- But that is confusing, as "in-universe" implies that the page subject is an in-universe counterpart, which this page is not. We don't apply T:DAB IU to Niki (For the Girl Who Has Everything) and Sarah Groenewegen (Return of the Living Dad), and other similar pages, etc. 22:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- And yet Paul Magrs (in-universe) (specifically the Love and War bit). And the policy quite clearly states that every article named after an out of universe thing needs the "in-universe" dab. Those articles you cite, as far as I can see, have simply not been updated to reflect the policy change. If you wish to change this so only in-universe counterparts get the dab, you will need to create a forum thread, because the policy quite clearly says that the dab term is required whenever an in-universe thing is named after an out of universe thing. Whether it is helpful is entirely irrelevant to this discussion.
- However, whether or not this is simply a coincidence or the judge was deliberately named after Levine is quite a different matter, and one which I'm not entirely sure on. Aquanafrahudy ๐ข ๐๏ธ 23:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- The only reason the Love and War Magrs was covered in the same page is because I covered during my time of obssessively finding meta-fictional content. And, also with the forum thread that established T:DAB IU, there are a number of unconsidered edge cases. The thread itself wss meant to cover the pesky in-universe counterparts, don't forget.
- Also also, Niki (For the Girl Who Has Everything) should not be renamed to Niki Haringsma (in-universe), as I've been told off-Wiki that that page name lacked the nuance of the reference. With Sarah Groenewegen, there are actually a lot of characters named after her, they just haven't got pages yet. Merging them to a single Sarah Groenewegen (in-universe) would rather violate T:MERGE's rule that every unique character should have their own page. 00:02, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- See Forum:Temporary forums/IU DAB Terms. I specifically brought up Niki (For the Girl Who Has Everything) as an example for our analysis.
- Are we concerned with things related to the in-universe counterpart of the DW franchise, in-universe counterparts of things related to the DW franchise, or the intersection of the two?
- Nobody really seemed interested in discussing this, as best I can tell, and the conclusion was the second - if it's named for someone related to the DW franchise it gets the dab. Similar to Antonio Amaral (in-universe). That one page just hasn't been changed yet. Najawin โ 00:05, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
