Johann Schmidt[[edit source]]
Edd R Watling and Revanvolatrelundar recently had a back-and-forth on this edit, about whether the alt-Eighth Doctor's alias of Johann Schmidt is a reference to the Red Skull from Captain America or simply a German translation of the "John Smith" alias. I think that the latter is more likely, but an edit war isn't productive. I suggest this wording:
- Johann Schmidt is the German equivalent of the Doctor's frequent alias John Smith. It is also the name of the Captain America villain, the Red Skull.

- Is it really that notable? Johann Schmidt is an alias the Doctor's used many times before, five times in fact. Unless there's proof of authorial intention to be a reference to it or in the previous uses, the first instance of "Johann Schmidt" being an alias the Doctor used was Timewyrm: Exodus so you'd need a source from that time that proves or suggests authorial intent of linking Johann Schmidt and the Red Skull. --Tangerineduel / talk 15:38, June 12, 2012 (UTC)
