Talk:Rassilon (Hell Bent)

Name[[edit source]]
Should this page be renamed to "Rassilon the Redeemer"? This incarnation names himself as such in his one and only appearance.FractalDoctor ☎ 16:59, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. That is what he calls himself, although, he also calls himself "Rassilon the Resurrected". Danniesen ☎ 17:54, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Rassilon the Resurrected also applies to Dalton, though (and, in BF's account, to Hardiman and Armitage) — whereas it's specifically Sumpter who "redeemed" Gallifrey. But the fact that he claims the "Resurrected" title from this event in a past incarnation does make the identification of the "Redeemer" title as specific to Sumpter's incarnation (as opposed to something that Rassillons from Sumpter onwards will claim the right to call themselves) rather more tenuous. - I'm not well versed in Big Finish, so I have knowledge gaps there. But also worth noting Dalton's incarnation on screen never gives himself any title/tag. FractalDoctor ☎ 18:04, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, Big Finish have interpreted "Rassilon the Resurrected" as referring to Rassilon being resurrected from the Matrix early on in the Time War, and inserted two audio-only War-era incarnations before Dalton (Rassilon (Deception) and Rassilon (Desperate Measures)). Mind, Moffat stated that that wasn't exactly his thinking behind the line in Hell Bent, but so it goes.

- As regards Dalton, he's not called such in dialogue, but the credits do give us "the Narrator". Scrooge MacDuck ⊕ 18:06, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
I note that in the Templatebox, Sumpter's incarnation is simply Rassilon the Redeemer without quote marks as if it's his name. FractalDoctor ☎ 18:09, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
