Talk:Rita Jalal

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
(Redirected from Talk:Rita (The God Complex))

"Rita is the first confirmed Muslim character to appear on a televised Doctor Who story. " Errm, this is totally wrong. I think Saladin in The Crusade has her beat by many decades...

I always thought Rita's surname was Jalal, not Afzal. ?

Rename to Rita Afzal[[edit source]]

According to our behind the scenes section on this character's page, Rita's surname is given as "Afzal" in DWMSE 31, as well as her father's nametag having the "Afzal" name on it. I want to determine if the name is present in the episode, as that would likely mean this page's rename to Rita Afzal wouldn't require {{conjecture}}. Any help?

I've done a quick search through of the episode's transcript, and it's definitely not there. Sorry. Aquanafrahudy 16:14, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Oh I know it isn't part of the script, but I'm trying to figure out if it is present on a prop. 16:56, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia instead gives her surname as "Jalal", which does complicate matters. It also seems to contradict the nametag in the episode by also giving her father's name as "Jalal". Unless there are other valid sources with the name Afzal, then I would suggest renaming to "Rita Jalal" instead. BlueSupergiant 12:43, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Just checking, but we count The Encyclopedia as an in-universe source now, don't we? If so, "Jalal" should take priority over the behind-the-scenes-confirmed "Afzal", right? The preceding unsigned comment was added by WaltK (talk • contribs) 17:26, 5 September 2024.
Yes, The Encyclopedia is valid now. Cookieboy 2005 17:30, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
