Sensor plate?[[edit source]]
I am not sure about merging this page with sensor plate. In the TV story we do not clearly see what the Third Doctor islooking at, do we? He may as well be tlking about the skirt's plates covered with sensor globes, which I actually find more likely.RingoRoadagain ☎ 21:30, October 21, 2019 (UTC)
- Well, BBC Books' The Dalek Handbook does confirm that the sensor plates are the slats introduced in The Chase. Granted, it is a non-narrative and thus invalid source, but I do believe that the Doctor is looking at the midsection rather than the bottom when he refers to "sensor plates" in Planet. --MrThermomanPreacher ☎ 21:53, October 21, 2019 (UTC)
- I think there is sufficient evidence to merge the pages. A more pressing argument is which page to merge the info on to. I would have thought this one would be best as that's what they are most well known as to fans in my experiences. --Borisashton ☎ 23:28, October 21, 2019 (UTC)
- I suggest the pages be merged into "sensor plate" as that's really the technical term. The term "slat", which is used in Prisoner of the Dalek at least, can be a redirect but I see it as more of a nickname like "Dalek bumps" to "sense globes". --MrThermomanPreacher ☎ 03:30, October 22, 2019 (UTC)
- I was not aware of such sources, in that case I don't think it's thab anbiguous anymore.RingoRoadagain ☎ 17:14, October 22, 2019 (UTC)
- Fair enough, merge to "sensor plate" and leave "slat" as a redirect. --Borisashton ☎ 17:18, October 22, 2019 (UTC)

Where is this sufficient evidence? The Dalek Handbook is a non-narrative source. From the above, I think the connection is more BTS material, unless a DWU source makes the connection explicitly.

- I think all this discussion has been ignoring that sensor plates, even if the various sources are definitive enough, would only be the nature of the Daleks' slats in particular. Since the term is widely used in-universe, I think a page about the concept of slats in general (noting that "many models of Dalek casings included sensor plates shaped like slats and which were often referred to as such") would still be warranted. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 17:33, October 24, 2019 (UTC)
