Plot

I started typing up a plot, but then saw in the history that the plot was previously on this page but was deleted. What was the reason for this? Just figured I'd check what the previous issue was before I continued on. TweedJacket 08:30, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, the previous plot was copied from Wikipedia. As we're trying to establish a unique separate encyclopaedia from Wikipedia we try to avoid any major copying. On other pages you may also find that the plot has been removed in the past, this would be because it had been plagiarised from sites such as the Doctor Who Reference Guide or other sites like it (which was against our plagiarism policy). The Doctor's Voice

In part 2, The Doctor is clearly voiced by someone other than Hartnell, and it may not even be his hand that is used. Since Hartnell wasn't supposed to appear in these episodes (originally they were going to replace the actor with someone else in part 4), it seems likely that he wasn't even there, yet I can't find any reference that states who actually did the "acting" for the Doctor.

I was just correcting the BrEng as I saw it, but looking back at the scene on iPlayer, it looks like it could have been a toffee, or a butterscotch, based on the wrapping style. Does anyone comment on the kind of sweets they are when Cyril gives them? Is it more obvious what they are in the new animation? If not, using "boiled sweet" as a stand-in for "a sufficiently hard confectionary that would break a tooth if you accidentally bit into it" doesn't strike me as particularly NO RW-ey. Or, otherwise "hard sweet" as in "a sweet that was hard", and I accidentally jumped the gun in BrEng-ifying? Not sure tbh - CodeAndGin | 🗨 | 17:25, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

The only comment given in the original serial is this:

DODO: They're Cyril's sweets.

And in The Gunfighters ^[+]Loading...["The Gunfighters (TV story)"] we have only:

STEVEN: it serves you right for eating that sweet.

And in the two novelisations the sweet is omitted entirely. So I must have just imagined it. Probably best just to say "sweet", because it's not necessarily a very hard sweet, like I said, it could just be a very very sticky toffee. Aquanafrahudy 📢 🖊️ 17:46, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
