Talk:Title cards/Doctor Who

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

First typeface[[edit source]]

Hello! I'm not sure about Grotesque One Three as the name of the typeface used in the first title screens. As far as I understood, Grotesque One Three (now Bureau Grot Comp Book) was made in 1989, even if indeed traced from the same typeface used in Doctor Who. As I was saying on Reddit:

Bureau Grot[esque] One Three — now Bureau Grot Comp[ressed] Book — was made by David Berlow in 1989. So that's technically not the font used for Doctor Who in 1963! Bureau Grot is made from 19th century printed grotesques specimens by the foundry Stephenson Blake. Other similar typefaces were recreated from them, as Grotesque 6 by Émilie Rigaud or Grotesque No 9 by URW++… and the one used in Doctor Who, of which I don't know the foundry. It may actually have been a version for photo-composition (or whatever they used for television typesetting in the sixties) of the original one: Stephenson Blake was still in business at this time.

I don't really know how to edit this information of the wiki for now…

Matt Smith Era Title cards[[edit source]]

Hello. I was wondering if there are plans to add the rest of Matt Smith's era title cards from Dinosaurs on a Spaceship onwards? Will the rest be added once the Eleventh Doctor's era concludes?--User:Alan-WK 12:45, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

The Night of the Doctor[[edit source]]

I noticed The Night of the Doctor is under the Eleventh Doctor section. Since it features the Eighth Doctor and not the Eleventh, does it really belong there? -162.201.117.199talk to me 18:12, December 28, 2014 (UTC)

Addition[[edit source]]

I added a bit to note the difference with Ambassadors of Death's title card, which zooms at the camera. I assume the Twelfth Doctor is still a work in progress. Don't forget to note the alternating with lower-case and all-caps and the fact Mummy's title card appears over the opening scene. 23skidoo 20:57, January 18, 2015 (UTC)

Website "title cards"[[edit source]]

I just wanted to bring up the argument that the website title cards should be removed. The Title card page says "A title card is a part of the title sequence which has the episode title — and, where appropriate, episode number — written on it." As the title cards from the website neither appear in the title sequence and for the most part don't even have the episode title on it, shouldn't they be taken more as a promotional image for the episode/game/etc. rather than a title card for the episodes?
