Rename proposal: Tremas Master[[edit source]]

One reason for this proposal is that it is 'already the wiki's practice', if not policy. On almost every page that talks about the Tremas Master, he is referred to as such. It would be confusing for wiki-readers (or "the not-we") to click a link reading "Tremas Master" and instead arrive at "The Master (The Keeper of Traken)" instead. Another reason is that, other than "Ainley Master" (or Ainley!Master), it is the most common name for this incarnation of the Master in fandom, and this means they will be less confused when visiting the page (and they should be the ones visiting the page most often). A third (and final for now) reason is that, unlike Talk:The Master (Terror of the Autons), there are no other viable names (that I know of, feel free to correct me) other than, perhaps, the "Trakenite" Master, as that's the species of person he inhabits. However, the fan and wiki usage of this is much, much lower (if it exists at all, I've certainly never seen it). Cousin Ettolrhc 18:36, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

The name ‘Tremas’ Master is incontestably the correct name for this article. It’s in-universe, it succinctly conveys which version of the character it is, it’s the most common non-actor name used for the version of the character. Heck, we already use it on multi-Master pages. We should implement this. To dismiss any proposals of ‘Trakenite’ Master, (1) it’s not as used among the not-we’s and (2) it’s not even accurate at all times. During ‘First Frontier’, the ‘Tremas’ Master purged himself of his Trakenite DNA and becomes fully Time Lord —but still keeps the body of Tremas. So I FULLY support ‘Tremas’ Master. Furthermore, I think it should be the model for other body-hopping incarnations: STOLENBODYNAME + Master. Only reason this hasn’t gotten any further support thus far is because it’s so non-controversial that nobody even thought to check and see if it was already done. Make it so! Thank you for pointing out all the reasons we shouldn't use "Trakenite Master", memes. I was worried people might want that. And I also agree this should be standard 'policy' for naming Masters who've stolen a body. Although we of course can't pass policy in this Talk thread, as it's only a talk thread, so doing it one-off (twice, again for Bruce) is totally fine. Cousin Ettolrhc 08:17, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
I agree with "Tremas Master" for all of the above. Chubby Potato 08:33, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

I also agree with the "Tremas Master" name. TheSpaghetOutcast 09:03, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

I agree with "Tremas Master" for reasons outlined already above. It makes sense given articles and pages on here already refer to him as such. FractalDoctor 11:47, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

I can't think of any alternative names other than the Tremas Master, so it has my vote. Jack "BtR" Saxon 11:53, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
We seem to be in agreement here, and I do think there are strong reasons to prefer an undabbed name here (Geoffrey Beevers' Master may be more or less the same version as in Deadly Assassin from a Watsonian point of view, but two actors make their debut as the Master in The Keeper of Traken in a way which makes the dab somewhat less than intuitive). I'll carry out the rename. Redirects will be created at Trakenite Master and Traken Master just in case, and, of course, at the dabbed form. Scrooge MacDuck 16:38, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Note that this page may yet be moved again, to "Tremas" Master as NoNotTheMemes suggested above, pending the outcome of the discussion at Talk:The Master#How to refer to each incarnation of the Master. – n8 () 19:37, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
