{{da}} — or {{dab away}} — is a little template that's used by other templates to check for disambiguation terms, strip them, and then pass the un-dab-bed, but linked, version of the title back to another template.
Its most common use is in infobox templates, where it can take the value of a variable, say {{{made next}}} — which might be Castrovalva (TV story) — and return Castrovalva.
