Release date part 1-20?edit source

Just an idea: rather than presenting the release date as (eg) |release date = 1 March - 14 March 2023, could we create variables like |release date part1 through |release date part20? These would correspond to a story's parts, unlike the existing |release date1=, which I believe is used for re-releases. Without elaborating too much or getting too ahead of ourselves, this seems like it would open up a lot of good possibilities going forward. – n8 () 19:58, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Both methods could probably be made an option. However, I would rather introduce this via a comma separated list rather than 20 new variables. We would also need to consider how your proposal would fit with SMW. Currently, dates are organised by Property:Release date and Property:Release end date. Would you propose creating Property:Release date 1 through to Property:Release date 20? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bongolium500 (talk • contribs) .

Add "prev display" and "next display"?edit source

Those would be useful for series where instalments don't have/rarely have individual titles, such as The Daft Dimension. By the same principle as when citing those stories in texts, the parameter would be used to display something like The Daft Dimension 477, which I believe would be more informative than what the template does now (simply The Daft Dimension).

This is actually two questions — a technical one, and a usage one regarding if there even should be a change in how instalments of series like that are displayed. Especially if this has already been discussed in the forums, and I missed that. But there might be other uses I haven't thought of for the parameter, too.

This is already nearly possible. Display text can be set by putting after the page name and then putting the display text, such as |next = The Daft Dimension (DWM 478 comic story)The Daft Dimension 478. However, this will all be italicised. I could add an option to disable automatic italics, allowing more freeform italics to be used instead? Bongo50 18:37, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, that would work famously! Thanks. I was looking for something exactly like that. (It probably doesn't matter much how it's realised, only that it's possible.)

I'll get this done within the next few days. Bongo50 19:10, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Add "Broadcast in"edit source

Could a section be added, to fulfil the same place in Cite source as "anthology"/"audio anthology", for things such as Gladiators Keepy Uppy [+]Loading...["Gladiators Keepy Uppy (TV story)"], Untitled [+]Loading...["Untitled (The Lily Savage Show)"], and Untitled [+]Loading...["Untitled (Tonight's the Night)"] that were broadcast as part of larger episodes? I was thinking of "Broadcast in", but a more general "Part of" could also work, that could be extended to various things. Aquanafrahudy 📢 🖊️ 19:33, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

I'm happy to add this. Does anyone else have any preference on "Broadcast in" or "Part of"? I think I prefer "Broadcast in" as I'm not sure how many other cases there could be that won't be covered by the existing anthology variables and this. Bongo50 21:20, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
