Transhuman

At the time of Earth's destruction, there was a faction of elite transhumans who used biotechnology to alter their own biochemistry in order to survive unconscious for centuries and return to life as apex predators capable of destroying other humans and anything else that might get in their way. They did this in an effort to colonise Hereafter. They planned to force generations of their fellow humans, the Morphans, to slave away at making the world suitable for human life and then return to wipe out the workers when they were no longer needed.
