Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Rassilon points[[edit source]]

Rassilon points are a reward you earn by completing the criteria of an achievement. On the right hand side of your user page, you can see all the achievements that you can earn. For more, take a look at Help:Game of Rassilon.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stop posting to [your] profile". According to this page's history, I have never left you a message before this one.--Skittles the hog - talk 15:39, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

I deleted your edits because they were redundant and grammatically incorrect. Also, you should sign your posts. Memnarc 08:14, September 23, 2011 (UTC) menmarc and a very happy christmas to you to!Metardis 08:18, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Into the bin[[edit source]]

The article 3-D glasses was deleted as it defied near enough every single policy on this wiki. It is well within my rights to chuck it in the bin. If you create it again to the same standard, I will simply delete it once more. Oh, and you may want to acquaint yourself with Tardis:No personal attacks.--Skittles the hog - talk 09:22, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

Human[[edit source]]

Your going to have to expand on that. I have no idea what you are asking.--Skittles the hog - talk 10:08, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

All submissions to this wiki are subject to change or deletion. If you remove text from my talk page again, even if it is your own, I will block you per Tardis:Vandalism policy#Your own comments.--Skittles the hog - talk 10:15, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

Defining "admin"[[edit source]]

Thanks for your question. Please see Help:User access levels for a full explanation.

Deletion[[edit source]]

Your best choice is to raise it on Talk:The Silence (species), where there is an on going discussion. Thanks. MM/Want to talk? 13:17, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Text removal on user:Metardis[[edit source]]

user:Metardis is in a different namespace than user talk:Metardis, and therefore doesn't come under the rules seen at tardis:discussion policy. Which is another way of saying that you can delete text on your user profile at will, yes.

Re: Sphereosis[[edit source]]

Is that a statement, or a question?--Skittles the hog - talk 14:29, October 12, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I don't understand what you're asking. If you're saying "do I get paid for the advertisement", then no - you don't.--Skittles the hog - talk 15:33, October 12, 2011 (UTC)

Past Tense[[edit source]]

Yes, everything on this wikia needs to be written in the past tense on in-universe articles. This is because we keep everything on in-universe articles written in-universe. Hope that helps. --Revan\Talk 18:07, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Bot[[edit source]]

A wiki with less than 10,000 pages has no real need of a bot. One with 13 pages absolutely doesn't need one.

Seals in german[[edit source]]

Why do you wish to have various foreign words for seal in the seal (mammal) section? Boblipton talk to me 19:05, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

No problem, just takes a few seconds. You seem to be confused about etymology, however, since the English word for the animal has no relationship to the letter word for wax on a letter. Boblipton talk to me 11:29, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Signatures[[edit source]]

Sure thing; take a look at Help:Signatures. Have fun!--Skittles the hog - talk 20:02, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Please also ensure you look at tardis:signature policy.

Socks[[edit source]]

Well, T:SOCK requires users to make it plain on their user pages that alternate accounts belong to them. For instance, user:CzechBot clearly labels user:CzechOut as the owner of the account, and user:CzechOut makes a clear reference to user:CzechBot. Shortly before his total banning, user:CharmeRuler made it plain in chat that he was the owner of user:LeanardoWyatt, so I made him put up a note to that effect on both pages. For some reason, he erased the note on the CR page, but it's still on the LW page. In this instance, therefore, we know because he told us.

As things transpired, we also know because it's an issue on several other wikis, including w:c:charmed and w:c:vampirediaries.

So this one was easy. In other cases we'd have to use more sophisticated snooping methods.

As for whether it's "okay" to have a second account, the answer's again at T:SOCK. Generally, it's frowned on. But if you have a good reason, it might be allowed, provided you make it clear on the two user pages that the accounts are connected. Decisions about whether we let you keep the second account in active use on the wiki are done on a case-by-case basis. But suffice it to say that if we don't feel that your reasons are sufficient, we might well block the second account.

If you don't tell us about the second account, we'll assume something fishy's going out and infinitely block both accounts.

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
