Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Unconfirmed Time Cracksedit source

This is definetely a crack!

The Pandorica Opens synopsisedit source

I noticed that you and User:Olilorry have spent the last 2 hours fighting over two different versions of the synopsis for this article. Please go to Talk:The Pandorica Opens and try to argue your case there and get consensus for what the article should say. It'll be a lot less frustrating for both of you. --Falcotron 08:49, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

I understand your point, but please discuss it on the talk page I linked to above. It's not my decision to make; I'm just some random guy. The point is to get everyone to agree.
The biggest worry I have about both your synopsis and the other one is that both appear to be copied word-for-word from sources that aren't cited. (Also, the other guy's has some weird formatting and punctuation problems, and really does read like it was compressed to fit into a tiny box in Radio Times...) --Falcotron 08:58, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

Heather and wolfie vistited by doctoredit source

Why did you change the timeline that he visited heather and wolfie in the end of time because in the comic lucky heather for doctor who adventures he visited them - Lewody1 14:918 29.5.10

Roryedit source

Please do not remove him from the cast list for the finale. Yes, he died, but he is appearing. Just look at that link you yourself deleted. --Golden Monkey 20:38, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

Images on The Pandorica Opensedit source

You uploaded a bunch of images for The Pandorica Opens with absolutely no information about their source.

You can't do that. There's a reason the "upload image" page makes you choose the type of licensing, and then gives you a box explaining what additional information needs to be included. Without this information, you could be opening the entire site, or maybe all of Wikia, up to charges to copyright violation.

Also, you've added them in weird places, like in the middle of paragraphs. While the layout usually works OK when you do this, it's not a good idea--some unrelated change farther up the page could suddenly screw up your image. (If you're editing using the fancy Rich Text Editor, you might want to switch to the wikicode editor, at least when you have to do anything complicated. It's got a bit more of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually much easier and quicker for many things.)

Anyway, I've removed the pictures from the article, and marked them for deletion. If you have proper source information, add it to the images, and then you can remove the delete tags and add them back to the article. --Falcotron 12:05, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean what's it about? I explained what it's about. If that's not enough information, read Help:Uploading files. If you don't have the information on where the image came from and who owns it, it can't be used. --Falcotron 12:09, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
And, while we're at it, The_doctor_playing_footbal.jpg, while it does have a license tag, does not have a source. How many other images have you uploaded without sources? --Falcotron 12:11, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure what "So including images from the trailer" means. Is it a question? You are allowed to include images from the trailer. If you capture a screenshot from the trailer, it's just like capturing a screenshot from anything else the BBC publishes. You have to set the license to BBC screenshot, and fill in the source (like, "grabbed from the series 5 trailer broadcast on BBC1" or "screenshot from the scenes for next week from the iPlayer version of Cold Blood" or whatever). If someone else took the screenshot and you found it online, put the source where you found it.
Really, read the instructions. They tell you exactly what to do. And I'm not going to be able to explain it more clearly than they do. --Falcotron 12:17, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't matter what you've heard of. That's the rule.
And it wouldn't matter if it were true "there's loads of users who do that", but in fact it's not true. I picked a bunch of pages at random--the first three were The Eleventh Hour, City of Death, and Bernice Summerfield, which you can check for yourself. But, between them, they contained screenshots, DWM covers, novel covers, CD covers, promo images, and other DWIA pics. Every single one had the proper tags. And, all of the ones but screenshots whose source is obvious also have descriptions. --Falcotron 12:31, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
If you know the source and the license, you don't have to remove it. Just edit it, and fill in the missing information. --Falcotron 12:45, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

Re: The Pandorica Opensedit source

OK, great catch.

But you can't change it to an image that doesn't exist, or you end up with a text redlink at the top of the page instead of a picture. If you've got a good image, put it in. If you don't, and you're sure the current one is from the wrong episode, just take it out entirely. --Falcotron 22:51, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Plotsedit source

Please do not copy plots from wikipedia. This wiki strives to be unique, and we prefer individually written plots. Thank-you. The Thirteenth Doctor 19:58, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Pre-airing spoilersedit source

Please don't add in that characters will appear in certain episodes on their pages. These rumours are only allowed on pages with spoiler tags, which main article pages should not have. Character pages should have no spoilers from unaired episodes on them, this includes any appearances in their infobox as well. Thank-you. The Thirteenth Doctor 17:40, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Amyedit source

I also think she will return. I agree it should be there, I just removed it because there were errors in the sentence. A heads up about it, you shouldn't really start sentences with and or but, as it is bad grammar. Also, the link to Rory Williams (Auton) shouldn't be like that, we never include the names of articles that have brackets in them, we remove the brackets, or in special cases, such as this, replace the name with another phrase, like "an Auton duplicate" for the above link. I've fixed it the sentence so that it makes sense now. The Thirteenth Doctor 16:00, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

To the user who placed this tag: This message is pretty general and should usually be avoided. Please use one of the messages at warn list, or write a brief message of your own that tells the user specifically how they can improve their editing.

Do not use the talk page for speculation. Ever. Do this again and you will be blocked fro editing this wiki. Mini-mitch\talk 11:01, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Little Girledit source

There were lots of speculation about who the little girl was and what she was. It was easier just to put down 'Near-human' and leave it at that, so that people don't add speculation to the article because we're saying she a Time Lord. Also; there is a discussion (That I believe is still ongoing) on the Little Girl's talk page, where you input would be extremely valued. Thanks for bringing my attention to the Time Lord template, I will revert this. She's not even list on the List of Time Lord's page. Anyway, I'm sure the question of who she will be answered in time. In the meanwhile, keep up the good work! Mini-mitch\talk 15:42, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

Sourcesedit source

Please do not remove source from episodes that have not yet aired, i.e. A Good Man Goes to War. I know some have appeared in the trailer, but they still need a source. Mini-mitch\talk 12:40, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
