The wedding of River Song and the Eleventh Doctor was held on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza within an alternate timeline stuck on 22 April 2011. The ceremony they performed was "the quick version", as they were in the middle of a combat zone. The Doctor went through the ceremony miniaturised and wearing the Teselecta as part of his plot to escape his fixed death at Lake Silencio. (TV: The Wedding of River Song)

Unbeknownst to the Doctor, River had deep insecurities about the legitimacy of the wedding, as it had taken place in a collapsing timeline. She later confessed to Jack Harkness that she mourned that the wedding featured none of the usual amenities such as a wedding cake or champagne. (AUDIO: R&J [+]Loading...["R&J (audio story)"])

Nonetheless, even later incarnations of the Doctor, including the Twelfth Doctor and the Thirteenth Doctor, considered themselves married to River Song. (TV: The Husbands of River Song [+]Loading...["The Husbands of River Song (TV story)"], Legend of the Sea Devils [+]Loading...["Legend of the Sea Devils (TV story)"]) River viewed earlier incarnations of the Doctor as her husband as well, given the nature of their relationship, and once called the Fifth Doctor her "fifth husband".
