Whitechapel
Whitechapel was a district of the East End of London notorious for its connection with Jack the Ripper. (PROSE: The Pit) It was located in the borough of Tower Hamlets.[1]

19th century[[edit] | [edit source]]
Whitechapel was located near the docks. William Blake knew of the Whitechapel of 1811 by its reputation for street crime. (PROSE: The Pit) In 1887, Sherlock Holmes could trace the criminal activities of the gangs providing security for the Library of St John the Beheaded as far as Whitechapel. (PROSE: All-Consuming Fire)
In 1888, the Jack the Ripper murders occurred. William Blake noted that houses were near identical, all three feet tall, barely six feet apart, with broken glass mended with paper and rags. He felt Whitechapel looked like a scene of Hell in Dante's Inferno. A hole in time connected to the Yssgaroth's universe attracted swarms of Hunters to pass in and out of the area and a displaced Blake and Seventh Doctor to reach the area. (PROSE: The Pit)
George Litefoot placed Rundall Buildings between Whitechapel and St Georges in the East. He decribed the area as "the centre of one of the most noxious and evil rookeries in the East End". (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang [+]Loading...["The Talons of Weng-Chiang (TV story)"])

In 1909, Bernice Summerfield was shocked by the poverty. Some of the victims of the Charrl were from Whitechapel, inviting a connection to the Jack the Ripper murders. (PROSE: Birthright)
In the 20th and 21st century, Whitechapel was associated with Ripper tourism. (PROSE: Matrix, COMIC: Ripper's Curse) Frederick Abberline was pleased to hear that Whitechapel streets would be safe to walk down at night a century into his future. (COMIC: Ripper's Curse)

Actor Roger Delgado, known for playing the Master during the Third Doctor's run, was born in Whitechapel on 1 March 1918.[2]

The same bend appears in the map from The Bounty Hunter, along with roughly the identical borders of Tower Hamlets marked in purple. Whitechapel is within these borders. This definitively places Whitechapel in London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
