Whittaker was a headmaster of Winterborne School.

Whittaker had no family and loved the school, but eventually retired after the governors persuaded him to do so. He was replaced by Gavin Purcell, whom the governors had been grooming to take his place. Although he had been at the school longer than even Barbara Taploe, she never felt that she really knew him.
Whittaker revived Isaac Greatorex's cult, which also included Purcell and his nephew Christian. Six months after his retirement, Whittaker and his dog Monty were killed by Christian, who was possessed by Greatorex. Greatorex considered him to be too weak. (HOMEVID: The Devil of Winterborne)
