Behind the scenes
- Producer Phil Collinson left Doctor Who in 2008 to become Head of Drama at BBC Manchester.
- A good many behind the scenes figures — like John Simm, Piers Wenger and Beth Willis — have ties to the Life on Mars franchise, which is set in Manchester, and may have partially inspired the character of D.I. Menzies. Simm's character in the franchise, Sam Tyler, was inspired by Rose Tyler - a companion of the Tenth Doctor.
