Joseph Galloway was a rag and bone man who worked with his father in the London area in the 1960s.

In 1962, when his father was too old to help, Galloway got a job clearing a junkyard. As he was cleaning out the yard he found a clear space, near which was a shiny crystal. He took the crystal, and he soon realised it had brought him luck. He made some money on a bet, and over the next few years he started getting better clearing jobs. He made enough money to let his parents retire and to get married. He knew his luck was due to the crystal.

Four years later, in 1966, he and some friends were watching the World Cup match between England and Germany at Galloway's house. An old man came to the door, asking for his property back. Galloway hesitated at first, but prepared to give it back after one last wish. He wished for England to win the match, but the crystal flared and exploded in his hand. The old man turned and left, and England went on to win the match in extra time. (PROSE: The Rag & Bone Man's Story)
