Useless Things was a Brief Encounter short story published in Doctor Who Magazine 212.
Summary
Alien invaders led by Prince Genei plan to take over the world, but are scared off by a police box they believe to be the Doctor's TARDIS. However, the police box is actually genuine and the last of its kind in England. Workmen arrive to remove it shortly after the invaders depart for their own world.
