The seismic detector was a piece of Dalek technology which was used by silver Daleks to locate people, (TV: Mission to the Unknown) machines such as the Doctor's TARDIS (TV: The Chase) or materials such as taranium. They were used as an attachment to the manipulator arm. (TV: The Daleks' Master Plan) The Dalek Survival Guide was aware that these "Type 1" Dalek Drones utilised detection equipment.
