Misty Eyes was the third audio story in Among Us 1.
Publisher's summary
Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams have made a new life for themselves in Iceland. Away from death and aliens and horror and Torchwood. Until there's a knock on the door from the last person they want to see.
Plot
Ng tracks Gwen down to a lighthouse in Iceland and visits her and Rhys, claiming to be looking to bring Torchwood back together and wanting to know if Gwen knows anything about Jack's whereabouts. Although the couple tell her to leave, she returns the next day with food supplies and learns from Rhys that Gwen has gone out to the cliffs, believing that she had seen Ng there in the early hours of the morning. Ng hurriedly brings Gwen back to the lighthouse after they see a figure resembling Ng in the mist, but further identical figures appear outside the lighthouse.
Using a shield generator built from volcanic rock and speedboat engines, Ng creates a force field around the lighthouse with Gwen and Rhys inside. Gwen eventually switches the generator off and is made to go back inside by Ng after looking into the eyes of the most fully-formed figure and becoming overcome with sadness, but Ng too is trapped within the reactivated force field until she accidentally overloads it whilst attempting to contact Kristin for help. She explains that she made a deal with the Mist long before meeting God to gain power in return for allowing the entity to take the displaced souls of those that she possessed and demands a renegotiation with the soul of her first victim: her child.
When the Mist refuses to renegotiate, Ng decides to save Gwen's soul by jumping to her death to break the deal, but Rhys persuades Gwen to stop her. Gwen tells the Mist that the Ng that made the deal died after arriving in Cardiff and, to prove this, she has Ng look into the eyes of her child and show her humanity by expressing her regret at what she did to them. Convinced and overcome, the Mist leaves and Rhys thanks the tearful Ng, who wishes him, Gwen and Anwen a good life before leaving. Gwen decides to send money to an emergency Torchwood account to help the organisation and leaves a message for Kristin, a government official, offering to get back into the game of hunting aliens.
