From D. Connell of Essex was a 21 short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
Aspiring agent Derek Connell writes to Twenty One. Although Connell is fully aware of humanity's monitoring of the rising Dalek threat, Twenty One helps him to understand how the Universal Secret Service remains informed of the actitivies of Earth's own operatives, such as the Stingray and XL5 teams.
Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]
Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Connell has recently read his first TV 21, thinking it to be the "best paper out", and hopes to become an agent of the Universal Secret Service.
- Connell has not previously heard of the "mysterious" Lady Penelope.
- Connell suggests dropping Cosmic Capers for "a week or two" and printing plans of Marineville and the various W.A.S.P. vessels in its place.
- Twenty One explains that most systems work on the same principle as television but then the radio waves carrying the pictures are fed through a special wave accelerator which boosts their speed across space from 186000 miles per second, the speed of light, to 200 million miles per second. This is how reports are received so quickly.
- Twenty One mentions the editor of TV 21.
