Hyper-space video-phone
The hyper-space video-phone, also spelt hyper-space video phone, (PROSE: XL5 Collision Course!) was the technology used by the Space News Agency to relay many of their stories about the Daleks, (COMIC: Power Play et al.) whose planet Skaro was located in hyperspace. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil)
In early 2065, the hyper-space video-phone documented the landing of Kest's spaceship on Skaro, the slaves Sala and Astolith's efforts to gain their freedom, and the Daleks' attempts to discover the secrets of space travel. (COMIC: Power Play) Later, the hyper-space video-phone was used to relay the Zeg Duel, (COMIC: Duel of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Duel of the Daleks (comic story)"]) then the Battle for Alvega. (COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge [+]Loading...["The Amaryll Challenge (comic story)"])
Shortly after the destruction of Alvega, hyper-space video-phone technology was also used by Space Station K42 to picture Fireball XL5 firing an interceptor missile. (PROSE: XL5 Collision Course!)
The Space News Agency then used the hyper-space video-phone to report on the rust plague. (COMIC: Plague of Death [+]Loading...["Plague of Death (comic story)"])
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- In the article PROSE: Tempest Awarded V.M. [+]Loading...["Tempest Awarded V.M. (short story)"], Earth is described as being located "many millions of lightyears" from Skaro. It shown to not did not receive regular radio signals from Skaro's region, although radio astronomers on Mars are able to do so. This could be taken to be connected to the need for the hyper-space video-phone.
