- 7 January - Location filming for The Massacre took place. This took place on Wimbledon Common and covered the sequence where Dodo Chaplet entering the TARDIS. (TCH 7)

- 24 January - Pre-filming for The Ark began at Ealing Studios. (TCH 7)
- 26 January - Innes Lloyd sent scripts of the first two episodes of The Gunfighters to director Rex Tucker.

- 25 February - John Wiles wrote a memo to Gerald Savory about Gerry Davis's new script for The Celestial Toymaker. In it, he claimed that the central battle of wills between the First Doctor and the Celestial Toymaker had been downplayed to the benefit of new elements involving a more childish confrontation between the companions and the Toymaker's creations. Ultimately, Wiles would have liked to have seen the entire production halted, since its commissioning producer and script editor had gone — and with them, the original, more adult intent of the story.

Doctor Who's very first regeneration sequence was shot, the beginning of a long-lasting tradition that would keep the show running long after the stars left.
