The Guardians of the Galaxy were a group which operated in Earth-616.
Members

History
Star-Lord recruited Rocket Raccoon as a member of the group after Rocket was arrested, having been betrayed by Otta Spice. (COMIC: "The Damsel" [+]Part of The Blue River Score, Loading...{"namedpart":"The Damsel","1":"The Blue River Score (comic story)"})
When he heard that he had a visitor in SecuriMax UltraPen 8000, Rocket thought that it could've been Groot, or "one of the others", such as Gamora. As it turned out, it was Gatecrasher.
