Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. A long time ago, they stole a TARDIS in a bid to explore the universe in complete freedom. When near death, Time Lords have the ability to regenerate, forming a new body and personality quirks. Recently, the Doctor discovered they had lived through an unknown number of regenerations which had been wiped from their memory. This is the story of one of those forgotten lives, known as the Fugitive Doctor...

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

1962. Four kids are sitting in their treehouse until the Doctor makes an entrance with a scanner. She's tracked the signal to Monstario the Devourer, who is planning to strip the Earth of its natural resources, specifically aluminium and other metals. Their cover broken, Monstario and his gang reveal themselves as the children's toys. Though the children initially come to the defence of their playthings, Monstario offering the Doctor a cut of the profits and dismissing the humans as patsies causes them to turn on the smaller aliens and overpower Monstario's gang. Impressed by the humans, the Doctor rounds up the aliens in a sack before the children ask if she'll return. She says she'll see what she can do, and as she walks away from the treehouse, she notes that Earth might be a backwater, but she's starting to like the people.

1963, a junk yard on Totter's Lane. One year later, but many lifetimes for the Doctor, including one that had to be started from childhood. And in which the Doctor gained their own family, one of whom he brought along with him. As they exit the TARDIS, Susan asks if her grandfather intended to land here, which the Doctor confirms, considering the junkyard as a fine place to hide the ship.
