The "Peckham Poltergeist" was a ghost, specifically a poltergeist, who briefly crossed from the Dark Dimensions into Garry Nelson's house in Peckham in 2023, but was then defeated by P.R.O.B.E.. It was usually invisible, but took the form of a shadowy, bluish humanoid during its final confrontation with the mortals.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In early 2018, young Peckham resident Steven Nelson secretly purchased a Ouija board from a novelty shop and used it in the basement of his and his father's house in an attempt to communicate with his recently-deceased mother Rachel. Instead, the ritual opened a portal to the Dark Dimensions, allowing a poltergeist to come through and begin haunting the house.

As the random moving items got worse, Garry Nelson himself became aware of the haunting — though not its cause — and posted about it to a supernatural-focused Facebook group, through which P.R.O.B.E. learned about the event on 23 April. By then Nelson had become particularly desperate as the spirit had shattered. Recognising the classic signs of a poltergeist, Giles and Archie rushed to Peckham, and confirmed its presence as well as the location of the portal using Archie's E.M.F. meter.

However, the banishment ritual they attempted initially failed, as the "Peckham Poltergeist" had been strengthened by feeding on the anguish caused to both Nelsons by their mutual estrangement. Only after they reconciled, coming to understand and respect each other's way of dealing with their shared grief, were the P.R.O.B.E. agents able to force the Poltergeist back through the portal and then close it.
