Seeing Things was a Doctor Who Adventures comic story featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

For two days in 1943, Sgt Brett Cooper has been walking the Australian outback. Hungry and thirsty, he begins to see things like a pool of water and the Doctor, whom he believes is another figment of his imagination.

The Doctor suggests he drinks from the pool, but Brett explains how it eludes him. When he races towards it, it moves away — a mirage that has been following him. The Doctor pushes him out of the way. As the "pool" flies off Brett realises he wasn't imagining anything. The creature, a Mirrorite, stalks its prey until it is too weak to put up a fight. Amy Pond is lying on the ground nearby, pretending to be an easy target while the Doctor encourages Brett to lie down and pretend to be exhausted.

Split between feasting on Amy or the Doctor and Brett, the Mirrorite divides itself into two halves, each an independent hunter. As each creature approaches its prey, the Doctor gives the command and both halves of the Mirrorite are captured in a force-net. The net would not have been able to hold a full Mirrorite, but divided, the Mirrorite is weakened.

The Doctor and Amy leave, with the Mirrorite agreeing to return it to its home planet of Shinnus — after they've given Brett a lift home.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • The DWA comic strip adventures were aimed at a younger audience and the artwork and colours were bold and bright, reflecting the tone of the magazine.
  • Self contained one part stories were the norm.
