Professor What was the fourteenth event in the Lost in Time video game made by Eastside Games. It featured the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones.

Synopsis[[edit] | [edit source]]

Cut! Next scene!

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Professor proclaims that the bad guy will never defeat the unbending spirit that powers him while his Companion laments they need to do something or it'll be the end of everything. A Dalek screams "OBLITERATE" on repeat, prompting the Professor to plan up reconfiguring algorithms of space if they want to survive. Companion asks him how they will achieve this. The Dalek arrives, preparing an attack. The Professor says that with his trusty sonic probe he'll-… but he is interrupted by the Director, who's frustrated at the androids performing as the line was meant to be sonic screwdriver, asking that if they aren’t faithful to the source material, who is going to do it.

Meanwhile in the TARDIS, the Tenth Doctor asks Martha Jones where they should go. She suggests Ancient Mesopotamia, but as the Doctor has had an argument with Gilgamesh it wouldn't be wise. Martha suggests Classical Greece but because the Doctor impersonated a Theban King once, they could still be angry. When she asks if there's anywhere he's been where he hasn't made enemies he concedes it's a good point, right as the TARDIS makes a noise meaning there's a Dalek presence close-by that they'll check out.

The Director is still frustrated, proclaiming they always strive for realism. He wants to have a go at whoever programmed the androids but then hears the TARDIS landing sound - the Doctor exits and asks if he's seen a Dalek around. The Director is stunned at the presence of his source material, when Martha points out the androids resembling Leela and the Fourth Doctor. The Doctor shouts a trio of "what"s.

The Doctor tells the Director off saying it's likely illegal as well as ridiculous, but the Director assures that they've looked into the legality of the matter. The Doctor begins citing Article 91 of the Shadow Proclamation but Wright, a Judoon, interrupts him saying "No personal history can be used for cultural production without permission of the individual.", excusing his delay as he was stuck in traffic. The Director introduces him as their legal advisor. Martha is surprised about the existence of a Judoon lawyer. Wright refutes the Doctor's claim with the subsection gamma of Article 91 - the Prescription Act of Arcadia.

Wright confirms, as they're adapting things over 100 years old. The Doctor concedes that they’re free to do it without permission. Martha sarcastically asks if there are bootleg TARDIS lunchboxes, which the Director says can be found in the gift shop. The Doctor digresses as the only reason they arrived was because of a Dalek signal. The Director explains they have a genuine Dalek chassis but that it is empty. Wright allows the Doctor to inspect it. He scans it with his sonic screwdriver but triggers an EMP that plunges them into darkness, begging the question if they're sure it's harmless.

The Director suggests it might be studio mishaps as the studio is a bit old. Wright shouts for nobody to move as the studio is responsible for any injury. Martha asks the Doctor for a flashlight, but he regrets that his screwdriver is burnt out. The Director finds the studio owned one and turns it on. The Doctor questions how they got it but is interrupted as the Dalek yells "EXTERMINATE" but the Director is more upset about his cameras being fried. The Doctor chastises him for that being his biggest concern.

The Daleks shoots Wright so the Doctor gets everyone to stand behind him as he tries to blind it, which works momentarily as the Dalek screams out. The Director is confused as the chassis was supposed to be empty because they scanned it. The Doctor angrily tells him it was a primitive scanner and the Dalek was cloaked, telling him to do his research. The Dalek resets its visuals and the Doctor gets Martha to help the Judoon while he keeps the Dalek busy.

The Doctor taunts the Dalek, whom considers himself a higher breed and set the entire trap up. The Doctor doesn't believe he set all this up and allowed himself to be used just to exterminate the Doctor - its mission according to it. The Dalek says he's correct, and that he executed the mission for Dalek High Command. The Doctor is astonished that this isn't a Cult of Skaro mission. The Director asks if he can take notes. The Dalek is about to exterminate when Martha tells for everyone to take cover.

Wright skewers the Dalek chassis with his horn, Martha noting he was surprisingly healthy after the beam. Wright adds that he was considerably angry too. The Director believed he bought a prop, lamenting he spent a fortune on it, but the Doctor tells him it was a real Dalek that tricked his sensors and Martha adds that it almost killed them all, with Wright suggesting he made a mistake. The Director apologises, promising to double check in future. The Doctor says that he will then be around to triple check. Wright has the Doctor sign his name to make him a consultant with veto power. The Director laments if that is really necessary, to which they both say it is. Martha asks if he'll allow the show to continue, but he says yes as long as part of the profits go to charity and he can veto episodes as the Director's research isn’t good and he might give people ideas. The Director says he is just a fan trying to get people to know the Doctor's story, to which the Doctor agrees as long as he has a say. The Director tells him he'll love his next episode as it involves Weeping Angels.

Back in the TARDIS, he tells Martha he can't believe the Director was trying to get a Weeping Angel, while Martha can't believe he's letting the show continue. He says it might serve as a good smokescreen for his activities. The Doctor says it might serve as a smokescreen for his own real activities, which Martha relents is a good idea. The Doctor says he is a never ending spring of good ideas and a good idea machine. Martha calls him "Professor", which the Doctor scuffs at.

The companion tells the Professor that the village they're in is big and asks the name of the tribe. The Professor says Cockneys. They hear a scream, but as the Professor speaks, his voice malfunctions. The Director frustratingly states that he knew he shouldn't buy parts from Mondas. The Professor says "emotions are a weakness".
