Abzorbalovians were a humanoid race that came from the planet Clom, (WC: The Genuine Article) one such creature notably approved the name Abzorbaloff which was coined separately by both Elton Pope and Tenth Doctor, with Elton initially suggesting Abzorbathon and Abzorbaling and the Doctor suggesting Abzorbatrix and Abzorbaclon. (TV: Love & Monsters) By one account, their "species designation" was known only to themselves and the Shadow Proclamation. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac) Historians who had been allowed access to the "Monster Vaults" of the databanks in the Doctor's TARDIS knew them as Abzorbaloffs, "for want of a better name", and noted that it was a name given to the creatures who were not imaginative enough to come up with a name for themselves. Culture[[edit] | [edit source]]
Some Abzorbalovians were xenophobic and despised Raxacoricofallapatorians. They had little shame and would wear no clothing beyond a thong. They seemed to disregard the lives of creatures they absorbed and took great pleasure in absorbing and digesting them. (TV: Love & Monsters, PROSE: The Monster Vault) The father of the Abzorbaloff claimed that it was a natural instinct the species simply gave into. (WC: The Genuine Article)
Historians who had been allowed access to the "Monster Vaults" of the databanks in the Doctor's TARDIS claimed that Abzorbaloffs sought the thoughts and experiences of other lifeforms as their own thoughts and experiences were "profoundly dreary". Abzorbaloffs liked to pride themselves on being gourmets. Their greed was so great that they often could not help blowing their cover by absorbing too many victims, which was identified as a major weakness. (PROSE: The Monster Vault) Indeed, "Victor Kennedy", after joining LINDA, absorbed Bliss and Bridget Sinclair before absorbing Colin Skinner, after which he was exposed as an Abzorbaloff by Ursula Blake and Elton Pope. (TV: Love & Monsters)
The Abzorbaloffs, who were constantly drawing sustenance through their skin, shared a predilection towards needing to be naked with the Slitheen family of Raxacoricofallapatorius. However, as the Abzorbaloffs absorbed other creatures into their body, the Slitheen tactic of hiding inside other creatures was beneath contempt. (PROSE: The Monster Vault)
Occasionally, Abzorbalovians bred with Raxacoricofallapatorians. A subgroup known as the "Abzorbalovian Rebels" were descendants of the Raxacoricofallapatorian families, Chippeen and Fittereen. (WC: Monster File: Slitheen)
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Abzorbalovians were part of the four-world Raxas Alliance along with the Raxacoricofallapatorians and the people of Raxacoricovarlonpatorius and Clix. (TV: The Gift)
The Raxacoricofallapatorian Clom colonists set up a colony on Clom. The Abzorbalovian Rebels were a notorious criminal organisation descended from the Raxacoricofallapatorian Huspick Degenerate. (WC: Monster File: Slitheen)
In early 2007 an Abzorbalovian rebel came to Earth with the intention of finding the Tenth Doctor to absorb him, gain all his knowledge and experience and take his TARDIS. After absorbing several victims to feed himself, he tracked down LINDA, went to their meeting place and offered to help them find the Doctor. He took over the organisation. While LINDA worked to find the Doctor, he absorbed most of them to further feed himself, claiming they simply left the group (Bliss and Bridget) or were currently elsewhere (Mr. Skinner). However Ursula Blake and Elton Pope discovered his true intentions. He then absorbed Ursula and tried to absorb Elton, but the Doctor and Rose Tyler found Elton and delayed the absorption. Before he could absorb Elton, the absorbed victims fought back and the Abzorbalovian, nicknamed the Abzorbaloff, died when Elton destroyed his limitation field. Three of his victims died with him, while Ursula survived as a face on a slab of concrete. (TV: Love & Monsters)
The father of the Abzorbaloff arrived on Earth two years later to seek revenge on the Doctor. After trapping the Doctor, the Abzorbalovian unleashed the Krakanord, which betrayed him. (WC: The Genuine Article)
The Thirteenth Doctor observed an Abzorbaloff who had absorbed a Sea Devil, a Monoid and a couple of Slitheen. (PROSE: The Wonderful Doctor of Oz)
In 3764, Clom pulled out of peace talks among the Raxas Alliance. As such, their denizens did not participate in the peace conference on Clix and the ensuing Grand Raxian Hunt against Slist Fayflut Marteveerthon Slitheen and Rose Tyler. (COMIC: Doctormania)
