On 20 January 1649, the trial of King Charles I of England, Scotland, France and Ireland was to be held according to history books. (PROSE: The Roundheads)

On 30 January, Charles I was executed in front of a large crowd. Oliver Cromwell, Charles' main political enemy, was amongst the onlookers. (PROSE: The Roundheads)
