Rumours and announcements

  • During production, behind the scenes images emerged of the Doctor's TARDIS prop and David Tennant on set, leading to speculation as to whether he would be appearing in the third season. This appearance was confirmed in Doctor Who Magazine 409 and is in a two part episode written by Gareth Roberts.
  • On 26 May 2009, the BBC Press Office issued an announcement also confirming the apperance, including publicity photos. Comments by Russell T. Davies also reveal that the storyline may involve Sarah Jane getting married: "It's more than just a cameo from the Tenth Doctor! He's a proper part of the story." He also added that the two-parter is "extraordinary, wild and powerfully moving," cryptically adding, "let's just say that the wedding of Sarah Jane will be a day for everyone to remember!".[1]
  • K-9 will appear in 6 of the 12 episodes of the series. While this has yet to be confirmed, the BBC announcement regarding Tennant did confirm that K-9 appears in at least his two episodes.
  • The announcement also mentions that the Judoon are to appear but it's not known if this is in the same episode as the Doctor.
  • The series will air on BBC One. This rumor derives from some of the media reports on Tennant's appearance but is not mentioned in the 26 May press released.
  • The agressive weed may be Krynoids.

Notes

  • an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.
  • There will also be a living painting, the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house, monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed.
  • a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.
