Alexander Shuttleworth was a human who lived in the Norfolk town of Farringham during the early 20th century.

He had a sister, who had died prior to 1914. His uncle fought in the Battle of Spion Kop during the Second Boer War.

When the Seventh Doctor and Bernice Summerfield were there in 1914, they rented a room from him. They sometimes had lunch together. Before Benny left, she found out that Alexander was gay. He and his lover, Richard Hadleman, lived together for many years. (PROSE: Human Nature)

Alexander attended Benny and Jason Kane's wedding in Cheldon Bonniface on 24 April 2010. (PROSE: Happy Endings)
