George Jeffreys was Lord Chancellor of England from 1685 to 1688. In 1980, the Fourth Doctor mentioned Jeffreys as one of many great Cambridge alumni while punting with Romana II. (TV: Shada, The Five Doctors)
During the Glorious Revolution in 1688, George Jeffreys sentenced the Second Doctor and Zoe Heriot to hanging, but Jamie McCrimmon was able to save them. (AUDIO: The Glorious Revolution)
