- This story leads directly into the plot TV: A Girl's Best Friend, with K9's delivery to Sarah Jane's Aunt Lavinia in South Croydon.
- While listing off versions of the Master, River mentions Missy, "one of the the goateed wonders" and "the sugar rush in purple". The latter seemingly referring to Sacha Dhawan's incarnation (TV: Spyfall).
- This marks the first direct reference to the Thirteenth Doctor era of the series in a Big Finish production, other than vague allusions to a female incarnation of the Doctor (AUDIO: I Am The Master, AUDIO: The Lumiat, AUDIO: Masterful).
Continuity
- The Fourth Doctor sent K9 Mark III to Sarah Jane in a Time Lord time crate because he could afford to send him in the post. At the end of the story River alters the time crate's chameleon circuit to make it look like a regular packing crate before sending K9 onto Croydon (TV: A Girl's Best Friend).
- River bemoans the fact the the Doctor never tells anyone about her, later the Doctor would tell Clara Oswald about River, but in a way that lead Clara to think she was a man (TV: The Name of the Doctor).
- River has previously met several incarnations of the real Master (AUDIO: The Bekdel Test, Animal Instinct, The Lifeboat and the Deathboat, Concealed Weapon).
