In a parallel universe, an away team was a team of specialized Starfleet crewmembers assembled to perform missions on planet surfaces.

To investigate the Borg-Cyberman presence on Cogen V, an away team was sent from the USS Enterprise-D, consisting of Commander William Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data, and Lieutenant Worf. They were accompanied by the Eleventh Doctor and his companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams. (COMIC: Assimilation²)
